The APEC Convention and Exhibition Center, a key project, is facing a particular challenge, with its workforce meeting only 30-40% of demand. To address this, contractors are building on-site barracks, subsidizing travel, providing meals, and offering night-shift allowances.
The pressure is mounting as the rainy season approaches, with only two months of dry weather left before construction work becomes more challenging. The APEC Project Management Board is working to keep the projects on track, but the labor shortage is one of four major bottlenecks, alongside site clearance, underground infrastructure, and materials. Despite these challenges, Sun Group, the lead developer, is confident that overall progress remains on track, thanks to proactive measures to ease the strain on workers.
